Welcome to...

www.trebon.org!

This site is a personal collection of news, lists, thoughts, ideas, pictures, and tidbits. Whether you got here by accident, or on purpose, please stay and read or view as long or little as possible.

If you found this site through a search engine after looking for keyword "trebon," then I hope you will find some interesting information. While there are many sites dedicated to the town of Trebon in Europe, this is a site built and maintained by someone of that last name. If you wish to let me know of your Trebon ancestry or connection, please click here to email me.

This site will be updated often, or not so often! In the meantime, check back every now and then, every day, or every week.

(I'll be updating this site, playing with new styles, photos, ideas, etc. Partly to keep it new, and partly to learn new web design skills.)

last updated: 05/06/2008

PS. Normally I don't like websites that say "best if viewed by IE X.X or later." Here all I'll note is that I created this site to be best viewed with your display being set at 1024 X 636. If you have your display at 800x600, the right side of the screen should be the right edge of the "What's New" section. Of course, if you are using a Mac, I have no idea how it looks.

What's New?

05/06/2008 Sunday I mowed the lawn. I had my two year old mower tuned up in February in anticipation of this mowing season. Anyway, I broke the mower when I hit a stump on the median by between the road and the sidewalk. I was able to finish mowing, but the mower was vibrating heavily and the cut wasn't perfect. So, I need to buy a new mower in a week or so. Joy. Oh, and the kicker? The county dug out the stump the next day, Monday.
05/02/2008 I finished the book, "Oil on the Brain: Petroleum's Long, Strange Trip to Your Tank, " by Lisa Margonelli. Very good read. Mailed it to a friend in Wisconsin.
05/01/2008 Happy first day of May! My favorite month.
04/30/2008 Yesterday Bridget had her "circus days" at school. There was a clown, snacks, and games. Bridget had fun. I'll post photos later.

We had dinner at Savannah's, a restaurant in Kensington. After Bridget went to bed I watched Saw IV. It was ok. Confusing so much that I had to go to Wikipedia to understand it. And they are making more of them....
04/28/2008 Bridget and I went to Union Station via the Metro. We saw some trains and Bridget looked at the statues and ceiling at the station. We then walked up the street to St. Joseph's Church and the Hart Senate Office Building. It was raining so we stopped in to visit with some staffers at Senator Baucus' office. Then home. Wet and fun! I took a couple of photos which I will post later.
04/27/2008 I finished Dexter: Season One tonight. I liked the series! Season Two is not out yet on DVD. I'm sure I'll watch it.

Karen has another conference. So, it is just B and I for a few days! Tonight we went to Baja Fresh and then Baskin Robbins.
04/25/2008 I was at work for a whole hour yesterday. Wasn't feeling well all day....stomach issue, no fever or anything. Just felt sick at work. Feel better now. Must have been a 24 hour bug or something....

This song is from the Six Feet Under series finale. Absolutely haunting.....
04/20/2008 Karen and I watched the movie Juno. Short and great!
04/18/2008 The NBA and Clay Bennett can kiss my Sonics lovin' rear end.

04/17/2008 Grandpa Tom was in town again, and Bridget showed him the Meadowside Nature Center. They had fun hiking.

Somehow I got an email from some site called Bebo. Somehow they hijacked my Yahoo! address book. I don't do anything with that site! Yuck.
04/15/2008 I finished watching the movie Live Free or Die Hard. Over the top is all I can say. Hope they don't make a fifth one. Bruce Willis must have really needed that paycheck.
04/11/2008 I finished the book "Pigtopia," by Kitty Fitzgerald. A great story!
04/10/2008 I finished watching the movie Michael Clayton, with George Clooney. I liked it. The beginning of the closing credits was a strange sight.

04/09/2008 I'm still giddy about the Jayhawks winning. Absolutely giddy.

I threw together a photo story of some Bridget shots. Set to a great song.
04/08/2008 Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Kansas wins the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. We all ended up watching the game...the whole thing. Bridget got her bath at halftime. She enjoyed watching daddy squirm when Kansas was ahead and yelled with daddy when they got ahead and won. Fun time!
04/07/2008

Yesterday was a busy day. First, it was Karen's 37th birthday! Happy Birthday! To celebrate, we had a birthday party for.....Bridget! She had some of her friends over for two hours. Cake, toys, and a pinata! We had most of it inside because of rain. Pictures of both birthday parties are here.

I watched I Am Legend last night. Kind of disappointing, but I love Will Smith!

Kansas plays Memphis in tonights National Championship. Of course I'll be watching. Go Kansas!

04/05/2008 Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Kansas beats UNC! I was sick to my stomach when UNC cut the 28 point KU lead to four. I couldn't watch for a bit. Memphis waits Monday.
04/05/2008 Game time is 8:47 pm or so. Hopefully a good game tonight. I don't care about the Memphis/UCLA matchup.

Tomorrow is Bridget's birthday party with her friends. I mowed the lawn for the first time to get ready. Looks nice. Hopefully it will be good weather tomorrow.
04/02/2008 I finished the book "The Boys' Crusade: The American Infantry in Northwestern Europe, 1944-1945," by Paul Fussell. Quick read...short book. Interesting.

Saturday is game time! KU vs the other team in the evening.
04/01/2008 Unfortunately, Bridget stayed home from school today....little fever, nothing else.

If Bill Self takes the Oklahoma State job, I'll kick him in the jewels......
03/30/2008 I had to work today from 1-9 pm. Good thing since I missed the Kansas game against Davidson. I caught a few minutes, but I think I would have lost a few years of my life watching it all. But....

....KU is in the Final Four! Woohooo! Bridget is starting to learn the phrase "Rock, Chalk Jayhawk!!!!"
03/29/2008 Karen and I watched Atonement. Very good. Too bad I couldn't "get into" the novel. Ah well.
03/27/2008 Bridget and I met Grandma Scottie at the National Portrait Gallery downtown. We had lunch then with Grandpa Tom, and then went to the frog exhibit at the National Geographic building. Bridget had a great time! After saying goodbye to her grandparents, Bridget joined her daddy visiting with John Weinfurter. She fell asleep in her stroller while they talked. A good day!
03/26/2008 Today is Bridget Paige Trebon's fourth birthday! We are having a family day with Grandmom Mary, Grandpa Tom, Grandma Scottie, Aunt Charla, and us. Kids party is next week.
03/23/2008 Happy Easter! We drove up to Grandmom Mary's place in Baltimore. Good food. I fell asleep on the couch.

Last night Karen and I watched American Gangster. Very, very good! I forgot that the reviews said it was a long movie, but at the end you thought it was short. I agree. Nonstop action and plot changes.

Kansas won! In the Sweet 16 again. Villanova awaits.

I finished "Playing for Pizza" by John Grisham. I thought it was better than the reviews suggested. Selling it on Ebay now.
03/21/2008 Yesterday was the first day of Spring. I thought it was today, but some Web site said I was wrong.

I've posted some March 2008 photos. More later.
03/17/2008 Happy St. Patrick's Day! This site always has green in it.

I finished watching the series Six Feet Under. I loved the finale.

Today we bought Bridget some new shoes! She likes them, even if they don't "lite up."
03/12/2008 Yesterday Karen and I met with Bridget's teachers at our first "parent-teacher conference." More of those in the future.

I wish Geraldine Ferraro would shut up!

Clay Bennett, owner of the Seattle Supersonics, and Daniel Stern, NBA commissioner, can kiss my a**.

Yesterday I worked. But Karen and Bridget went with Renee, Tim and Nick to the National Archives. They had a great time!
02/13/2008 Obama won Maryland (and Virginia, and DC)! We had an ice storm last night. Power stayed on, but roads were icy. Wet winter "crap" today.

Maryland GOP Congressman Wayne Gilchrest lost his primary. Guess he can't advocate any Democratic staffers to be Maryland's Secretary of Agriculture now!

We finished watchint Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. It had its moments.
02/12/2008 I voted for OBAMA today. Hope he wins.
02/11/2008 I have uploaded another picture. This one is from our summer visit to Sesame Place. Bridget and I on the roller coaster.

I also finished the book "Next," by Michael Cricton. Very good and fast read.

Tomorrow is the Maryland primary. Go Obama!
02/10/2008 I have uploaded two pictures. They are Bridget's "threes" preschool pictures....one of her and one of her class. They aren't the greatest quality. I may redo them later.
02/06/2008 Bridget and I went to Ash Wednesday Mass. She was a good girl, but didn't like it when the priest put ashes on her forehead.

I have updated the "Lists" section on the website. Changed some stuff around. Hey, I only do this once or twice a year!
01/25/2008 Bridget and I went to playgroup at Rebecca's house. Fun fun. Bridget was especially excited because we brought donuts!
01/23/2008 We had our carpets cleaned today. Found a very good small business. Bridget and I went to Starbucks and the library while they dried.

I am a New York Giants fan for the next two weeks. I hope they can beat the Pats. The Green Bay/NY Giants game was one of the most entertaining football games I've ever watched.
01/20/2008 Karen and I watched the movie Sicko.

I hope the Chargers and the Packers win!
01/18/2008 Today is my nephew Ryan's second birthday!
01/17/2008 I finished Weeds, Season Two. Season Three is still new on Showtime, so I guess I have a while to wait.
01/15/2008 Ok, I figured out how to reduce the size of the movies I took. Here is the one of our kitchen...this time a much more manageable size.
01/13/2008 Karen and I last night watched The Reaping. Good horror/thriller flick.

01/09/2008 Yesterday I finished the book "Slow Waltz in Cedar Bend," by Robert James Waller. Yes, I lost one of my man cards for reading that book. Seriously, I thought it was very good.
01/07/2008

It is January, and 63 degrees. Supposed to be 68 tomorrow. We will get some outside time!

Last night we went to the Winter Lights at Brookside Gardens. Good time. Bridget was a little fussy and pushy, but it was still fun. They work hard to put up those lights.

Also, I am in the process of updating this site, so check back often. Archiving some pages to decrease load time and open up space.

01/06/2008 Pretty laid back weekend. We watched Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic. Funny. She is daring.

We took down the Christmas decorations. No holidays until MLK day, and there aren't any decorations for that day.

Oh, and OBAMA!!!!
01/03/2008 I dropped Bridget off at preschool this morning. Good to be back. I was reminded of that Staples "backtoschool" commercial where the dad is happy and the kids are bummed out.

I finished the book "Big Coal: The Dirty Secret Behind America's Energy Future," by Jeff Goodell. Very interesting read.
01/02/2008 Happy New Year! We didn't do a whole lot for New Year's Eve. Karen worked so Bridget and I ran errands and played. We ate Chinese food for dinner. B went to bed around 11 and Karen and I watched the ball drop.

I took a lot of photos in Colorado. Oh, and a few movies. Good movies too, including ones of Ryan and Bridget dancing. They turned out very well! But, they were taken with my new camera. I discovered that the factory preset is for movie-taking in "best" format, which means they are larger files. So, instead of the 1-6 megabyte files I was used to with my old camera, I have movies with 40 megabytes or more. I don't think I will be uploading those to this site. If you are family or a close friend, I can send them to you. (I have changed the setting on my camera....)
12/30/2007 Well, we got back from Colorado last night. Easy trip out, easy trip back. Bridget was very good! In Colorado, we had a good visit with everyone. We explored Fort Collins and ate a lot. I will have photos and movies up soon.

However, I have put up some photos of our new kitchen, completed in August. Also put up a movie of the kitchen (this is a huge file).
12/22/2007

Today we are going up to Mary's for an early Christmas. Tomorrow we go to Colorado. Fun fun!

Last night Karen and I watched Attack of the 80's, a compilation of 50 movie trailers from the 1980s. Funny to watch considering that the effects in some of the films were at one time considered cutting-edge!

12/17/2007 Last night we went to see Santa at the DC Trolley Museum, which is about three miles from our house...in Maryland. It was HollyTrolley Fest, or something like that. We rode a trolley with Santa and saw some model trains. Fun fun. Cold and windy though.

Speaking of Santa, here is Bridget's picture with Santa at White Flint Mall.

I finished Weeds, Season One. Very good show!
